This year's 2023 Brisbane Disability Connection Expo was held on the Friday 3rd March - Saturday 4th March at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre, the expo had a bright and bubbly atmosphere as people were able to visit over 200 stalls, each offering its own unique services and types of equipment. Many of these stalls were interactive and allowed people to touch and feel the equipment on offer.
The Disability Connection Expo — which is a free event open for all members of the public — allowed manufacturers and service providers to showcase and educate their products to visitors at the event. Clients, support coordinators, service personnel, people living with disabilities, and many members of the community attended the event. There were also support coordination companies and companies who work with the NDIS to offer their services to visitors at the expo.
Operations Manager at EquipU Michael Ford says that "anybody that's scared of, of moving forward with a disability, there's people there to be able to help with that. To discuss your needs and anybody that is just generally interested in helping people."
At the Equip U stall, we had our Action Trackchair and our Basketball Wheelchair on display, and our biggest highlight was giving away a $1000 prize to the Whitsundays.
Action Trackchair
Our Action Track Chairs captured the interest of many people who attended the event. Patrons were able to try the chairs for themselves and find out if it was suitable for them. We also had information brochures for interested visitors wanting to learn more about the products on display. Being able to facilitate moments like this is what makes the Brisbane Disability Connection Expo such a valuable event.
Basketball Wheelchair
The Basketball Wheelchair that we stock also got a lot of interest from people attending the expo. We were thrilled to see an interest from the representatives of Paralympic Australia for this product as we believe it is a great chair for anyone looking to get involved in the sport.
Equip U Competition
We were even running a competition with the prize of a travel voucher to visit the Whitsundays, which was valued at $1000. Anyone who visited our stall was able enter the draw to win the travel voucher.
Overall, this was a great expo for us to attend. There were many great stalls and fantastic people dedicated to making the industry a better and more accessible place.
The Benefits Of An Expo
If you or a family member may be struggling or need assistance, the Disability expos are a great way to introduce you to an array of products and services to support your disability journey.
Operations Manager at EquipU Michael Ford summed up the expo by saying "It was an unbelievable experience getting to meet lots of different people through different life challenges and be able to discuss their needs, their worries, and their concerns."
We Specialise In Everything Mobility
At Equip U, we see a disability as a possibility and have made it our mission to go above and beyond the standard offerings from other retailers.
Our point of difference is that we don’t just stock mobility scooters and other accessories, but we also offer in-home trials to residents who live in Queensland and offer maintenance and servicing for any mobility products. We believe that access to this shouldn’t be limited based on where you live, and being NDIS registered, we can provide funding options as well.
Ultimately, it’s our mission to work with you to bring your vision for improved mobility to life. Should you have any queries about the types of products we offer or how they work, or would like to schedule a free at home product demonstration, please get in touch with us today.
