Mobility Scooters Mackay

Finding reputable mobility scooters Mackay experts means that not only are you shopping local, but that someone is there for the aftercare part of the journey.

Generally, mobility scooters are built for people who have trouble walking or getting around but don't always need a motorised wheelchair. In turn, this makes them very popular with people who have a wide range of medical conditions, long term injuries or a disability, particularly for those who can’t stand for extended periods of time or those not permitted to drive cars for medical reasons.

A mobility scooter has a seat over two rear wheels, a flat area for the feet and handlebars in front to turn one or two steerable wheels. The seat may swivel to allow access when the front is blocked by the handlebars, and mobility scooters are usually battery powered. While there are several types of mobility scooters available on the market today, their basic functions remain the same - but where do you find mobility scooters Mackay outlets?

Getting Around Mackay Like A Local

As the most notable halfway point between Rockhampton and Townsville, Mackay’s strategic position on the Queensland coastline first saw the region develop into a grand, new age city in the early 1870s thanks to the booming sugar industry - a key economic pillar at the time.

Considering the fact that the area actually produces more than one-third of Australia’s sugar every year, Mackay is also an integral part of the Central Queensland economy. Aside from agriculture and despite being well known for its proximity to a number of the state’s biggest coal mines, Mackay is also uniquely positioned for access to an array of tropical islands and one of the less common access points to the Great Barrier Reef - but what’s it like to actually live there?

On a more localised scale, Mackay Regional Council seems to be prioritising quality of life for its residents. The council has allocated a significant amount of funding towards sustainable infrastructure projects to build roads, as well as water and sewerage systems that will ultimately accommodate the growing economy and increasing population of the region.

What’s more is that Mackay Regional Council also believes that good access equates to good business and has also developed an Accessible Communities Action Plan to help more businesses get onboard. The council has a strong legacy in advocating for people with a disability and the scope of the plan encompasses not only people with permanent or temporary disabilities, but also people with mobility and accessibility concerns, such as older persons and parents with prams.

While long considered as the rural epicentre of Central Queensland, Mackay is now home to a huge range of motels and hotels, good restaurants, excellent boating facilities and a genuinely fascinating hinterland. As for the city itself, Mackay seems all too happy to bask under the tropical sun and its wide streets are characterised by beautifully kept median strips with royal palm trees and flowering tropical plants. With booming opportunities linked to real estate and employment, there’s never been a better time to be living in Mackay.
